Why here
Orangeraie sits on a flat, fully enclosed 2,500 m² plot on a private domaine above Plage Gigaro. The house is big enough that ten people are not living on top of each other: five bedrooms each with their own bathroom, a living room that takes three sofas and a grand piano side by side, and a terrace that follows the sun through the day.
What defines the villa is the poolhouse. It is a second, open living space beside the pool with a summer kitchen, a bar, a large barbecue and a table for ten. In practice that is where the holiday happens — the main house becomes the place you sleep and make coffee.
We rent the villa ourselves. You correspond with the owner, not with an agency.

Inside
Space you notice
The entrance opens into the living room: generous, bright, with doors onto the front terrace. Three large sofas, a big flatscreen with Netflix and Prime, air conditioning, and a grand piano for anyone who plays. Beyond it lies the open kitchen — modern, with a wall of built-in appliances including a steam oven, a double dishwasher and a wine fridge. The utility room holds the washer and dryer, so beach towels do not end up occupying the whole terrace.
The master bedroom is on the same level as the living room, with an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. The other four bedrooms are upstairs; three of them open onto the upper terrace looking over the pool to the sea. Each room has its own colour theme and its own bathroom, so nobody queues in the morning.

Outside
Under the parasol pines
The garden is flat — good with small children and good for a pétanque court — and dominated by mature parasol pines that put shade where you want it through the day. The front terrace is partly covered and seats eight at an XL dining table.
The grounds are fully enclosed, and the domaine has its own entrance gate with a second private gate for the villa. There is an alarm, cameras at the entrance and the parking area, security shutters and a safe. Four cars park on the property.

The pool
Salt water, no chlorine
The pool is 10 by 4 metres and between 1.00 and 1.50 metres deep — deep enough to swim, shallow enough to stand. Heating is available, which makes spring and autumn usable. An electrically operated hard cover closes the pool when nobody is in it, and there is a pool alarm.
The water is kept clean by salt electrolysis rather than chlorine. It feels softer, does not smell, and is kinder to skin and swimwear. The sun terrace has ten loungers and three parasols; there is an outdoor shower, and pool towels are included.

The poolhouse
The second living room
At the far end of the pool stands a large covered poolhouse with a summer kitchen: fridge, dishwasher, water heater, crockery and glassware. The counter doubles as a bar. There is a large gas barbecue, a dining table for ten and a lounge set.
The practical effect is that cooking, eating and sitting on afterwards all happen outside, and nobody walks back and forth to the main house. With ten people and a full week, that is the difference between cooking together and manoeuvring around one kitchen.

The area
La Croix-Valmer and Plage Gigaro
Plage Gigaro is a broad, gold-coloured beach on the south side of the Saint-Tropez peninsula, and it is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the villa. There is a free stretch that runs into protected land, and a supervised beach along the boulevard that shelves gently — easy with small children. Lily of the Beach and La Pinède Plage are both on the sand, both with loungers and parasols. On the boulevard there is a well-stocked Spar with fresh bread daily.
La Croix-Valmer itself is a village that works all year: bakery, supermarket, Presse, restaurants and a weekly market. A large Géant is a quarter of an hour by car. Saint-Tropez and the beaches of Ramatuelle are easy to reach, and usually without the traffic the region is known for.
A fifteen-minute walk brings you to Cap Lardier, a protected area with coastal footpaths. In spring and autumn it is the best argument for coming outside high season.
